Theresa Plumridge, acting superintendent at the Pacific Highway Commercial Operation in Surrey, British Columbia
Videos of Theresa's role.
What's really important here, at commercial is that we are facilitating the free flow of people and goods. I don't really think sometimes people are aware of how much stuff is trucked across the border until you come and work in this environment. It's unbelievable the things from truckloads of just toilet paper and paper towel to truckloads of TVs to the amount of food and produce that come across the border every single day.
My name is Theresa Plumridge, and I'm an acting superintendent at the Pacific Highway Commercial Operation in Surrey, British Columbia. On an average weekday, we're going to see anywhere between 1,200 to 1,400 trucks in a 24 hour period. My job entails everything from planning the weekly schedule, planning the daily schedule, allotting the different activities to the officers, what they're going to do throughout their shift, helping out with exams, overseeing any enforcement action that's taking place, providing references or any additional information that officers may need to assist them in getting their work done.
One of the most amazing things about CBSA is that there are so many different things that you can do. No two days are alike. You can choose to go into a managerial stream. You can go into intelligence investigations, inland enforcement. There's so many different things you can do within the Agency. Ultimately working for the CBSA. I really am proud of the fact that we keep drugs off the street, but I'm also proud of the fact that we are a family here and that we take care of each other.
Canada Wordmark appears.
