Notice of Preliminary Determinations
Ottawa, July 5, 2017
On July 5, 2017, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), pursuant to subsection 38(1) of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), made a preliminary determination of dumping with respect to certain silicon metal originating in or exported from the Federative Republic of Brazil (Brazil), the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan), Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos), Malaysia, the Kingdom of Norway (Norway) and the Kingdom of Thailand (Thailand), and made a preliminary determination of subsidizing with respect to certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Norway and Thailand.
On the same date, the President of the Canada Border Services Agency, pursuant to paragraph 35(2)(a) of SIMA, terminated the dumping investigation in respect of the above mentioned goods originating in or exported from the Russian Federation.
The subject goods are usually classified under the following Harmonized System (HS) classification number (code):

Provisional duties will now be payable on the subject goods that are released from customs on or after July 5, 2017.
