Below are a number of statements related to the immigration detention program and policies and the National Immigration Detention Framework. Please read each one and indicate to what extent you agree or disagree with each statement.

The following set of statements intends to capture your views as they relate to the broad review of detention policies and standards with a particular emphasis on minors and detention, and long-term detention:

Individuals detained for immigration purposes should not be held in jails (i.e., provincial correctional facilities) unless they represent a risk that cannot be alleviated otherwise. (required)

Minors (under 18 years old) may be held in an immigration holding centre or youth detention facility in exceptional circumstances (i.e., security risk). (required)

Immigration detention of a parent/guardian should be avoided when they have accompanying minor children. (required)

Immigration detention of a parent/guardian with accompanying minor children may be justified in cases where the parent/guardian may be a danger to the public. (required)

Minor children could be held in a detention facility with a parent/guardian that must remain in detention where no alternative child care arrangements are available. (required)
