Certain Concrete Reinforcing Bar
Notice of Extension of Investigation

Ottawa, November 4, 2016

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has, today, extended the investigation with respect to the alleged injurious dumping of certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from the Republic of Belarus, Chinese Taipei, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, Japan, the Portuguese Republic and the Kingdom of Spain.

The Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary stage of the investigation shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the complexity and novelty of the issues presented by the investigation, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue a preliminary determination will be made on or before January 3, 2017. The CBSA will you inform of the decision at that time.
