Release of Non-Commercial Goods via the Single Window Initiative (SWI), Integrated Import Declaration (IID)

1. The Canada Border Services Agency has made a policy decision to allow non-commercial goods to be released using the SWI IID (release service option 911).
2. This policy only applies to non-commercial importations that utilize a custom broker’s Business Number to obtain release.
3. The SWI IID was not originally designed to process these types of goods and as a result clients will need to utilize a work-around when using the SWI IID to process non-commercial shipments that are regulated by a Participating Government Agency or Department (PGA) until new PGA functionality can be added for the processing of these shipments.
4. As such, if it’s determined by the importer/broker that the goods are non-commercial, clients will need to:
