Single Window Initiative

The Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) Single Window Initiative streamlines the sharing of commercial import data between the Government of Canada and the import community. It balances the needs of government departments and agencies with today's globally competitive business environment. Along with the CBSA, there are nine participating government departments and agencies representing 38 government programs.

The Single Window has two service options:

  • Integrated Import Declaration (IID – SO911)
  • License, Permit, Certificate and Other Documentation (LPCO Image – SO 927)

Important

  • The Canada Border Services Agency has completed the on-boarding process.
  • Beginning the CBSA will begin the phased in transition to decommissioning the legacy service options OGD PARS and OGD RMD.
  • Those Trade Chain Partners that are certified and in production are expected to utilize the SO911 to the greatest extent possible.
  • Clients who are certified to use the SW IID but still opting to use the legacy SO463 and SO471 to clear shipments, may see delays in their release.

Program Benefits

  • Simplified import process
  • Reduced paper burden
  • Decreased cost of doing business

Depending on which system you currently use, there are additional benefits:
